Hello and Welcome!

Hello, I'm Deecoily. Thousands of women, like me, have put down the relaxer and are wearing their natural hair proudly. We all have different reasons for doing it, damaged hair, scalp problems, hair loss, curiosity or maybe simply being tired of wasting Saturdays waiting in a salon. Maybe you saw a woman on the train rockin a fierce set of locs or twists and decided to try the natural thing. Whatever the reason, you're here now and that's the most important thing.

Some of us are transitioning, some are wearing braids and thinking about it. Some have just cut off the relaxer and are just beginning to learn how to care for natural hair in the real world. But all of us have this in common: we all want to have natural, healthy, beautiful hair.

Why this site?

When I first decided to stop relaxing my hair in 1998, I found only a few resources on the web for support. How times have changed! Now, there are sites popping up all over the web for those needing more information about natural hair. Over the past few years, since I have been natural, I've noticed a large internet community developing; made up of hundreds of women in various stages of naturalness, asking questions, seeking answers, offering advice and giving support to each other. Certainly, this is more than just about hair.

My site is just another one of those places, but with a concentration on pictures of real, everyday people wearing styles they do themselves. This way we can show each other what a style looks like then explain how to do it. Presently, because the site is very new, all the styles shown are of me. Which shows the versatility this one head of 4a has :) Once others begin to submit their photos, we'll be building a library of hairstyles you can do yourself.

Locs will be included when contributors send their photos.

All contributors are either a 4a or 4b hairtype. This way, no confusion and unrealistic expectations of 4a/b hair doing things it just wasn't designed to do.

Story contributions, page links, ideas, thoughts and comments are always welcome. If you have something to say, please email me by clicking the button on the left or send to: [email protected].

I hope you enjoy your visit. Please don't leave without signing the guestbook. If you leave your email address I will keep you informed of changes and additions as the site develops.
